Ingrid Berg is a lyric soprano from Gothenburg, Sweden. She's a versatile artist and musician who freely moves within a wide range of scenic and musical expressions. From early music to contemporary repertoire in the field of opera as well as lied and oratorio.

Music has always had a given place in Ingrid's life. When she was eight she started playing the violin, and began to sing in the girls choir in Gothenburg cathedral with Petter Ekberg at the age of eleven. Her love for singing grew alongside an increasing interest for opera which naturally led her on to study with the aim to become an opera-singer.

She has taken part in Masterclasses with and worked with prominent teachers and artists such as Inger Dam-Jensen, Miah Persson, Susanna Eken, Susanne Rydén, Randi Stene, David Jones, Helena Döse, Dorothy Irving, Torbjörn Liljeqvist, Petteri Salomaa and Gitta-Maria Sjöberg.


Opera

In the beginning of 2024 Ingrid Berg made her house debut at Norrlandsoperan in the role of Lydia in Pride and prejudice by Daniel Nelson, based on Jane Austen's iconic lovestory, libretto by Sofia Fréden. Conductor; David Björkman, director; Clara Svärd.

The summer 2022 Ingrid portrayed the role of Elisabeth in the Swedish premiere of Philip Glass's dance opera Les enfants terribles based on a novel by J. Cocteau, with the opera company Kamraterna at Theatre Tribunalen in Stockholm. Director Dan Turdén, coreographer Sara Ribbenstedt and musical leader Anna Christensson.   

In December 2021 Ingrid made her debut at Folkoperan in Stockholm as Ilia in the guesting production Idomene0s with Kamraterna and the baroque orchestra Rebaroque. An experimental fusion between the modern play Idomeneus by R. Schimmelpfennig and Mozarts opera Idomeneo. Director Sara Ribbenstedt and musical leader Maria Lindal. 


2018 and 2019 Ingrid was engaged at Vadstena-Akademien. In 2018 in various roles including the water nymph Agérie in the french opéra-ballet Solen och Nordstjärnan (The sun and the northern star), music by J. Desfontaines, J.B. Lully and A. Düben, director and choreographer Karin Modigh, musical leader Dan Laurin.

In 2019 as Eurydike in G.Ph. Telemanns Orpheus, director Clara Svärd, musical leader Andreas Edlund. 


In 2019 Ingrid sang the part of Susanna in extracts from Le Nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart in a concert in Vadstena Abbey together with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and conductor Per-Otto Johansson.

In addition to the above, ingrid has worked with conductors such as Mark Tatlow, Henrik Schäfer, Finn Rosengren, David Björkman, Christian Karlsen, Glenn Mossop, Mats Nilsson, Andreas Lönnqvist and Sofia Ågren, and stage directors including Mira Bartov, Ola Hörling, William Relton, Eva Haglund, Patrik Bergner, Helena Röhr, Alexander Niclasson and Eva Österberg.

In the summer of 2020 she was one of four scholars selected for the newly formed Confidencen Opera and Music Festival Academy that worked with and performed D. Buxtehudes sacred piece Membra Jesu Nostri in Ulriksdals Castle Theatre in Stockholm. The academy was led by tenor Anders J. Dahlin, cembalist Johan Hansson Lindström and the artistic director of the festival Olof Boman.

The spring 2022 Ingrid performed Membra Jesu Nostri on a tour together with Göteborg Baroque.
